Dr. Eric Haynes is so grateful to be able to call himself a South Bay native as he grew up and lived much of his adult life in the area. He feels the community has given back to him so much and has played a huge role in becoming the person that he is today. While away at college he was beginning to develop a passion for the study of the human mind and how to help people progress and heal through emotional struggles, he had an idea. Wouldn’t it be great to bring back these skills and knowledge to help the people in the community he loves so much? That’s when the idea of Haynes Psychological Services was born, and now officially serving the wonderful people of this area.
Before Haynes Psychological Services was up and running, Dr. Haynes studied and practiced clinical psychology for over a decade in the greater Los Angeles area counseling children in schools, treating substance abuse, working in community clinics, and providing psychological services in hospital settings. He has experience conducting individual, couples, group, and family therapy with clients as young as 7 years old to 65+ years old. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in psychology, his master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University, and his doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University.
With empathy, care and compassion Dr. Haynes is confident that once someone enters the care of Haynes Psychological Services, they will be taking the first step toward healing, and living healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Here at Haynes Psychological Services, we conduct therapy using an eclectic approach. Basically, it’s a fancy way of saying we believe that one size does not fit all. By utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques to treat the people we work with, we’ll be able to tailor treatment to your specific needs. Below is a brief summary of some of the approaches we utilize.
When a person’s emotional distress starts to inhibit their ability to function effectively in their life, we can use our thoughts (cognitions) and actions (behaviors) to help us manage and soothe our feelings (emotions) to a point where we can listen and gather information from them rather than having them take over.
Fostering a healthy and supportive connection between the therapist and the client has been shown time and time again to have the biggest impact on client improvement. Experiencing a warm, understanding, and empathetic relationship while problem solving in a collaborative way can lead to greater confidence, control over one’s life, and higher self-esteem.
A more in-depth form of therapy that explores people’s past (and current) experiences and relationships, and how those experiences shape how they interact with their present world. Developing a greater understanding of your life and identifying unhealthy coping mechanisms and patterns, can help lead someone toward positive change. The “here and now” technique is also used, where the present therapist-client relationship is explored which can provide powerful insight into how one relates to others and the world in real time.
*It is important to understand when working on, uncovering, or exploring mental health issues in therapy there are often uncomfortable, difficult, and sometimes painful moments. And some people find they don’t benefit from therapy. If that is the case, we will find and identify other means to find you relief.
We can treat a number of mental health issues:
Haynes Psychological Services has worked with children as young as 7 years old and up to 65+ years old. However, we specialize in working with adolescents and young adults (ages 11-30 years old).
Our standard fee for a therapeutic hour (50 minute session) is $250. We are an out of network private practice, which means we do not accept insurance coverage. However, we can provide a superbill at the end of each month showing you’ve paid in full. You can turn that into your insurance to see if they’ll reimburse you some if not all service fees. It is recommended that you call your insurance provider to check if they cover out of network psychological providers.
*If finances are a problem, we do work on a sliding scale fee on occasion. Meaning we can lower the cost of the session to a price you can afford, while also considering the provider’s set fee, making it a fair deal for all involved.
The best way to contact Dr. Eric Haynes is by phone call or messaging through this website. From there we will take ~15 minutes on the phone for you to give me a general description of what’s going on and how I can best help you. If we decide we are a good fit, Dr. Haynes will take you through the initial process of your therapeutic journey step by step including scheduling an initial session, sending paperwork to be signed and filled out, and what to expect the beginning of therapy to be like.
Federal law under the No Surprises Act 2022 requires this out-of-network provider to give you a Good Faith Estimate on what you can expect to pay for out-of-network services for a given year. Your provider will explain this requirement, furnish documentation, and will answer any questions once the new patient process begins.
*Please understand that if for whatever reason we cannot accept you as a client, or if we find we are not a good match, we know plenty of excellent providers in the area. We are happy to help you get in touch with them. Our goal is for you to get the best care possible that fits your needs.
